September Happenings

September brought with it many changes including new schools for four of us, but we survived and thrived by the end of the month.  Nate and Riley are at the same school, Ben started preschool, and the Early Childhood Program that I have been serving as the school psychologist at for four years moved to a new elementary school. We're also keeping busy with sports, piano, homework, and time with family and friends.  This Friday night we came home after Riley's soccer game and I was so happy I didn't have to pack lunches for the next day. Then after a few moments, I realized how lucky I am that we have lunches to pack.  The hustle and bustle of September had started to wear me down, but now I'm feeling recentered and grateful for our many blessings.

Nate went to his friend's Harry Potter themed birthday party and then Ben stole the favors.

Nate's love of reading has skyrocketed.  He is finishing a  few chapter books a week and takes a book everywhere he goes.

I have to finish this with Spider-Man:

Cousin Time

Andy, Val and Sadie were in Gig Harbor for the weekend for Andy's 20th year high school reunion so we got to spend some time with them. You may recognize our Sadie Sade, she's currently featured on some Doc McStuffins commercials showing on the Disney channel!

Ben wanted a retake on the silly shot.

Walk for Wishes

Our team "Walking with Gramps" participated in the third annual Walk for Wishes 5k for the Make-a-Wish foundation.  Thank you to the wonderful families that joined us!

Our team! The optional theme was to dress as a hero.  Hence, Nate is Harry Potter and Gramps is Dumbledore.
Ready for the walk!

First days of school

School is in! This is a big year for our family as all three kids are at new schools, and Riley and Ben are hitting major milestones with the first day of Kindergarten and the first day of preschool.  They all rocked their first days - we are so proud of our brave kids!

The first day of Kindergarten is a big deal.  I was planning to have some special time with Riley the night before her first day but Nate beat me to it.  He gathered all the books about the first day of school and read them to Riley.  It was better than anything I could have planned - way to go big brother!
